Situation

The alleyways, plazas and history of what was the first Barcelona form a part of the essence of one of the liveliest and most visited districts in the city, Ciutat Vella, where our hotel is located. It is the most centric district but also where you’ll find the most diversity, authenticity and culture per metre squared.

Staying at our hotel Ciutat Vella is a sure bet in terms of travel–we are only 10 minutes to plaza Cataluña, the most important transport hub in the Catalan capital– but this means a decided willingness to get immersed in the customs and history of Barcelona. And it’s precisely here where the Roman past comes together, medieval, marine and the outside walls of the Ciudad Condal. The expression goes all the Barcelonas from just one location.

In the district, our hotel is situated between the neighbourhoods Born and Gothic, a few metres from such emblematic buildings as the Cathedral or the Palau de la Música. From The Moods Catedral, you will find views of the Roman wall and moreover you will be just a calm stroll away from primary points of interest: the mythic Ramblas and the famous market of the Boquería is only a 10 minute walk, while the Museo Picasso and the Catedral de Santa María del Mar are only five minutes away. The best part: it’s not even necessary to use public transit to get around this central area because one of its primary charms resides in getting lost in its infinite backstreets and hidden plazas.

Along the way, the numerous designer shops, restaurants with local and international cuisine and the current fashionable bars will have you stopping here and there to enjoy Barcelona’s creativity, something of note in all of its businesses.

Furthermore, if you love the sun, we recommend a visit to the city’s beaches. This is one of the most popular attractions among visitors not only for their obvious beauty, but also for the authenticity of the marine neighbourhood of the Barceloneta, where the most well-known is located. From our hotel on the Born border, the sea is at a pleasant 15-minute walk down the Vía Laietana or one stop in metro.
